GasBuddy conducted a study on aggressive driving habits, including braking, speeding, and rapid acceleration to determine the list that ranks states according to most aggressive drivers. For anyone who lives in Georgia, it may not come as a surprise that the state ranked #3 on the list. Even less surprising is the fact that Georgia has a law against aggressive driving, and anyone who is arrested for this misdemeanor of a high and aggravated nature should find an experienced Georgia aggressive driving attorney to defend the charge.
Aggressive Driving in Georgia
Before the roadways and byways became crowded with vehicles, it was almost funny to witness a driver yelling or honking the horn at another driver or violently shaking that distinctive finger at them. More recently, however, aggressive driving has gone beyond the moral bounds of simply yelling at another driver or gesturing rudely. Georgia law states that when a person “operates any motor vehicle with the intent to annoy, harass, molest, intimidate, injure, or obstruct another person,” then he or she is committing the act of aggressive driving.
What is Aggressive Driving Solving?
One question posed by WTVM’s Editorial column seems to put this all into perspective. First, the writer explains the scene of a road rage incident that occurred across the border in Alabama. A driver with his two children in the car is cut off by another driver and honks the horn at him. The driver that was honked at retaliates by shooting back at the other driver’s car, blasting out the back windows, right behind the children. There were no injuries, but this all boils down to the question: Did honking the horn solve anything?
Caught on Video: Brooklyn Road Rage Attack
Another violent aggressive driving incident occurred in Brooklyn last month. Road rage exploded into a street fight with one perpetrator wielding a box cutter. Then, to onlookers’ sheer surprise, the suspect got back into his car and took off, but not before pinning an Uber driver between the two cars. The video of this incident was shown on the news, and officials are asking for anyone with information about the driver to come forward.
What Makes People Aggressive?
Everyone has bad days, and while you may be aware of your own personal struggles, no one is ever aware of what the next person is dealing with. When you think about it, nearly everyone driving on our roads has an excuse to be aggressive, but that does not make it right. If you see an aggressive driver on the road near where you are driving, it is best to just slow down and create as much distance as possible between your car and the aggressive driver’s car.
